Mayday Parade was born when two Tallahassee bands, Kid Named Chicago and Defining Moment, decided to merge and form one group. Armed with a duo of lead singers in Jason Lancaster of Kid Named Chicago, and Derek Sanders of Defining Moment, They have garnered attention through their shows and online with an interactive MySpace selling 10,000 copies of their EP Tales Told By Dead Friends without label support. They appeared on one date of the Vans Warped Tour in 2006 on the Ernie Ball Stage, and followed the tour to every other date promoting and selling merchandise. They are now signed to Fearless Records and have re-released their EP as of November 7th, 2006. They are featured in Alternative Press's 100 Bands You Need to Know in 2007.

[edit] Tales Told By Dead Friends
The band's debut EP, which featured six songs of varying style and instrumentation, has sold over 10,000 copies to date. Originally released without the support of a record label, it has been re-released and continues to garner support for the band. The songs range from anthemic pop-rock to soft-spoken melodic ballad. From the energetic opener "Just Say You're Not Into It," to the quieter conclusive track "The Last Something That Meant Anything" Mayday Parade displays their spectrum of musical creation. Also notable is the widely popular "When I Get Home, You're So Dead," which the band plans to re-record and include in their first full-length album.
