McCormick Tribune Freedom Museum
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The McCormick Tribune Freedom Museum was opened on April 11th, 2006 in Chicago by the McCormick Tribune Foundation. It is the first museum in the United States dedicated to freedom and the First Amendment. The museum is two stories and offers visitors an interactive experience focused on our first amendment rights which include speech, religion, press, assembly and petition. It is located on Michigan Avenue next to the historic Tribune Tower.
Some journalists have noted the irony of a Freedom Museum being named after Robert R. McCormick, a war profiteer who used the Chicago Tribune as a pulpit to oppose the entry of the United States into World War II.
