[edit] Request Information
- Where is the issue taking place?
- Bullshit!, Talk:Bullshit!#Links to copyright-violating webpages
- Who's involved?
- User:Jeffq; 85.5.224.99 (talk • contribs); User:Yeago; User:Phil Sandifer
- What's going on?
- Anonymous user keeps adding external link to blog that lists downloadable videos of complete episodes; I keep removing it as supporting copyvio. Arguments are lengthy and getting rather personal. Issue is binary — include link or not — so compromise seems unachievable.
- What would you like to change about that?
- I'd like an party uninvolved in the article to consider the situation and the arguments, let us know if we're missing any policies that would decide the issue either way, and generally advise on a next step if the solution isn't obvious.
- Would you prefer we work discreetly? If so, how can we reach you?
- Open discussion is fine with me. My talk page is best to reach me.

[edit] Discussion
While using the talk page of the article in question to solve a dispute is encouraged to involve a larger audience, feel free to discuss the case below if that is not possible. Other mediators are also encouraged to join in on the discussion as Wikipedia is based on consensus.
This is my first Mediation Cabal request, and I'm not sure how to proceed. The argument seems to have died down. I'll attempt to summarize the events since I filed this request:
- Yomangani joined, citing policy support for the "remove link" position.
- Yeago continued posting unsupported opinions focusing on my attitude rather than the issue.
- I posted a note to Yeago's talk page asking him to stop this, with an intent to file an RFA if he didn't, and asked readers of Talk:Bullshit! to join the effort to get Yeago to cease his attacks, (Nobody did, and I can't blame them for not wanting to get involved in this part of the "debate").
- LotLE joined, dismissing the indirect copyright concerns and suggesting an article-text mention of the videos without the link.
- 85.5.224.99, without conceding the argument, apparently gave up trying to restore the link.
- Kevin L'Huillier and Mütze joined the debate, calling for evidence from Showtime to end the dispute.
- I pointed out that I'd asked Showtime for this evidence, but didn't really expect a response.
- No one has restored the link to Bullshit! (or to its sibling article List of Bullshit! episodes) since I last removed them (23 Aug and 28 Aug, respectively).
I don't know if I should withdraw this request, and if so, how. I would still be happy to receive any advice. ~ Jeff Q (talk) 12:46, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for explaining, I would suggest the case should be closed. If a similar problem reoccurs we can always open a new file. Addhoc 13:23, 3 September 2006 (UTC)
- I'm fine with that. Should we post a note at Talk:Bullshit! for opinions, or is it enough that the requestor accepts closure? I mentioned a request for mediation there, but I didn't specify a link, which I probably should have. I don't think anyone else has shown any interest in taking this discussion to a higher level, but I wouldn't want to be accused of misrepresenting the situation. If you haven't already, perhaps you can at least skim through it to see if my summary is adequate. I'm open to suggestions. ~ Jeff Q (talk) 13:37, 3 September 2006 (UTC)
If you as the requestor accept closure, then we can close the case. I had a brief look at your summary, which seemed very reasonable. In this context, I'll close the case. Addhoc 13:42, 3 September 2006 (UTC)
