The Meghadootam (The Cloud Messenger) is one of Kāliādās's most famous works. One of the hallmarks of Kāliādās is the phrase "Āshādhyasya Prathamadivase," (On the first day of Āshādh) illustrated in the image above. The verse is one of the most beautiful in his works and arguably in all of theatrical Sanskrit literature.
