Mega Bucks
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Mega Bucks were a professional wrestling tag team of "Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase and André the Giant.
During the summer of 1988, DiBiase and Andre tried to pay or take the WWF over for their own. DiBiase had previously bought Andre's contract from Bobby Heenan and tried unsuccessfully to buy the WWF Title from Andre as well. Standing in their way were The Mega Powers. At the innaugural SummerSlam, the two teams faced off to determine the fate of the WWF. Jesse "The Body" Ventura had been appointed as a supposedly impartial guest referee by WWF President Jack Tunney. It was strongly hinted leading up the event that that Ventura, already a strong critic of Hulk Hogan as a commentator, had been paid an undisclosed amount by the Mega Bucks. But the match didn't go as planned for the Mega Bucks. Elizabeth exposed her assets in skimpy panties after stripping off her skirt to the stunned Mega Bucks, resulting in The Mega Powers coming back to win the match. Ventura counted but stopped at two because he hesitated unti; the Macho Man forced the three count. The Mega Bucks were accompanied by DiBiase's valet Virgil who interfered in the match several times.
This match essentially marked the end of the epic feud between Hulk Hogan and Andre The Giant that had dominated WWF programming (and part of the popular consciousness of wrestling) for over 18 months. In the weeks after the match, Andre returned to The Heenan Family, with the explanation that Heenan had quietly purchased his contrct back at a tidy profit, and feuded with other upper-card wrestlers. Hogan and Randy Savage continued to feud with DiBiase for the remainder of the year.
