Melting Point Order
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Melting point order determines the melting point of objects based on their characteristics. In lowest to highest order, they are:
1. Nonpolar Molecular (low molecular weight)
2. Nonpolar Molecular (high molecular weight)
3. Polar Molecular (dipole-dipole)
4. Polar Molecular (hydrogen bonds)
5. Metallic
6. Ionic
7. Network
- Extremely heavy non-polar molecules would have a higher melting point than light polar molecular substances.
