Melvin Francis

Melvin Joseph Francis (August 6, 1945–January 12, 2006) was the governor of Maine's Passamaquoddy Indian tribes for over eight years. He died when his car crashed head first into a tanker truck. He had been negotiating an affordable oil deal for his people when he died.
