There are a couple of things in the article, as of now it's still a stub, that are questionable and perhaps should be removed. Firstly, it says "She recently commited suicide in her grandparents' retirement home with a shotgun, apparently leaving no note or other indications regarding the location of her son." This seems to assume she is guilty, or at least that she knew where her son is, otherwise why would she leave a "note or other indications?" As of now, the son is missing and there is no proof Melinda Duckett knew where he is or was in any way connected with his disappearance. Also, perhaps "apparent" should added in front of "suicide" as many media outlets are using that term because investigators have not declared it a suicide yet.
Then this entry: "Melinda Duckett changed her mySpace account, removing the picture of her son and replacing it with a photograph of herself alone, before reporting her son's disappearance." Is there a reliable source for this? No such information exists on the internet as far as I can tell. Until a source can be found, this part of the article/stub should be deleted as it simply makes Melinda Duckett appear suspicious or shady for no reason. Even if she did change the photo, that doesn't necessarily mean anything significant and perhaps should be omitted unless she is found guilty after which such a detail perhaps could be included as it may reveal some insight into her mentality. Although that is a debateble point. Investigators released Duckett's myspace blog and her entries suggest that while she contemplated the uncomforatble/painful elements of life she loved and was devoted to her son.
Also, "Also, she threw out many of his possessions--including the sonogram of Trenton as a fetus in her uterus." On the Saturday September 23, 2006 episode of "Nancy Grace," I think it was a repeat, I caught a part of the show where one of the guests mentioned that investigators apparently found pictures of Duckett's child in the trash. This has not yet been confirmed and neither has the exact content of those alleged photos been specifically revealed. Even if it turns out that pictures of the child were found in the garbage that doesn't necessarily mean anything and it doesn't automatically mean Melinda Duckett threw them away on purpose or if she was the one who threw them away at all. Unlike the guest on the Nancy Grace show, I will try and find the link to the episode transcript, a picture of one's baby in the garbage does not equate throwing the real baby in the garbage.
Then this: "Investigators have also found blood on items recovered from her home." Apparently what investigators found was a top-sheet with stains that resembled blood on it along with 15 other items. What they also found was a cut screen through which investigators believe the boy was taken.
Add info about her side business.
Melinda Duckett, the deceased mother of missing child Trenton Duckett, dabbled in amateur porn. Local 6 of Florida has a slideshow of highly redacted images in Duckett in various poses, including this…ahem…fetching one of her leaning, nude, on Trenton’s crib. In the available videos, police say they can hear a baby crying in the background of at least one; whether that baby is Trenton is unknown.
The videos that Melinda Duckett made were sold out-of-state by a Web site operator, who provided her with free camera equipment. Authorities are attempting to discern if Duckett sold any videos directly out of her home; anyone who knew where she lived, after all, might have proven a danger to her…and to Trenton.
