Mellissa Hart is not the first woman to serve Pennsylvania in the House of Reps. Kathryn E. Granahan served in the house from 1956 to 1963. Npeters22 17:29, 31 May 2006 (UTC)

- (Congressional staff members related an incident in 2001, in which they recalled the freshman Representative Melissa Hart of Pennsylvania, who is white, admonishing Representative Julia Carson, who is black, that the elevator they were riding on was members-only.
