Mere Green, Birmingham

Mere Green is an area of Four Oaks, Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham, England. It is a small commercial centre on the edge of Sutton Park. The area features a fairly large shopping area, which has a variety of both national chains and privately owned shops. Plans have recetly been outlined for a major redevelopment of the Mere Green shopping area, which would involve the demolition of many of the smaller shops.
The area made the news in 1983 when Renee, owner of the then La Gondola restaurant in Mere Green, scored a No 1 hit single in the UK with an Italian singer called Renato, entitled 'Save Your Love'.[citation needed]
