Metal Management was founded in 1983 and re-incorporated in Delaware in June 1986. Metal Management entered the scrap metal recycling industry on April 11, 1996, through its merger with EMCO Recycling Corp.

Headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona, Metal Managemen had developed the business of dismantling, purifying, processing, and recycling ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Their goal is to become one of the top recyclers of scrap metal on the North American continent. Metal Management operates twenty recycling facilities in five states. It resells the scrap metal it has processed to both domestic and foreign customers.
Mental Management plans to continue expanding its facilities through acccquisition and consolidation of the highly fragmented industry of recycling scrap metal, since no single corporation is a significant scrap metal processor on a national scale. Some companies have attained prominence on a regional scale but this perpetuates the fragmentation of the industry.
