Metropolitan Community College (Omaha)

Metropolitan Community College (Metro, or formerly, Metro Tech) is a public community college located in Omaha, Nebraska.

Metro serves residents of Dodge, Douglas, Sarpy and Washington counties in Nebraska.
Founded in 1974 when the Nebraska State Legislature consolidated the state's eight technical community college areas into six, the system was originally named the Metropolitan Technical Community College Area. In 1992 it was renamed the Metropolitan Community College Area.
Metro has campuses in North Omaha at Fort Omaha, in South Omaha, and in Elkhorn, as well as centers in La Vista and Fremont and classes at Offutt Air Force Base and several area high schools.
As of 2004, Metro had an annual enrollment of over 26,000 credit students and over 17,000 non-credit students. Metro offers courses ranging from photography and art, to automotive technology and medical fields, to transfer programs to four-year institutions.
