Michael Marriott
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Richard Michael Harris Marriott was head of the London stock exchange in 1975 and in the same year was Master of the Skinners Company. He was the youngest master of the company for some time but also, ironically, was one of the few to die whilst in office. He died of a heart attack at home following being released from hospital. After his death the christmas edition of the Telegraph crossword had to be changed as he was no longer the present head of the Stock Exchange. He would have been knighted the next year (As is customary for the head of the stock Exchange) if he hadn't died. He was an Old Tonbridgian (went to Tonbridge School, his youngest son is the actor Tim Marriott of Brittas Empire Fame.
His sister in law married a direct descendant of the De-Montford family and was a well known artist. He is also a direct descendant of the Harris family (hence his middle name).
