Midway Mall is a shopping mall located in Elyria, Ohio approximately 25 miles southwest of Cleveland. It is located on the east side of OH 57 between I-90 to the north and I-80 to the south in northern Lorain County. It is anchored by JC Penney, Sears, Dillard's, Macy's, and also features Steve & Barry's and Best Buy as junior anchors, making it the exclusive location in Lorain County for many merchants. The mall was originally opened in 1965 with Sears, JCPenney and Higbee's. May Company opened in 1990 when a new wing was constructed. Higbee's became Dillard's in 1992, and the May Co. adopted the Kaufmann's name in 1993, before becoming Macy's in 2006.
After many years of ownership by the Jacobs Group of Cleveland, Midway Mall was sold to The Westfield Group in the 2001 as part of the Jacobs Group's divestitures, adopting the name Westfield Shoppingtown Midway and then Westfield Midway during Westfield's ownership. In May 2006 the Westfield Group sold Midway Mall to Centro Properties Group, [1] at which point it reverted to its original name Midway Mall.
Dillard's has announced they will close their store by May 2007. [2]
