Midnight Rain originally formed as an unnamed melbourne band at the end of 2004. The band consisted of: Alex Harrison (vocals and piano), Tammy Cohen (vocals and piano), Benji Verstandiker (drums and guitar), Sam Osborn (guitar, piano and bass), Josh Cohen (vocals and piano) and Ben Phillips (rhythm guitar). The band slowly got accustomed to playing together and started to build up a repertoire of popular songs such as She Will be Loved by Maroon 5, Look What You’ve Done by Jet and Crazy Little Thing Called Love by Queen.
At the begining of 2005, before school started, Ben announced he was unexpectedly changing schools. This left the Band with no bass player. Soon the band discovered young talent Brett Joffe (guitar and Bass), who was quickly convinced to join.
The Band’s first performance was at the School Fete doing a cover of Feeling Alright by Grand Funk Railroad that Josh Cohen had arranged. Soon after the band performed, this time with Brett Joffe, Feeling Alright again and Sunday Morning.
After a period of non-activity in 2005; barring the Sports Awards Evening were Midnight Rain performed Eye Of the Tiger which went well except for some technical problems with the mics, the band is working up a greater repertoire, performances skills and will be involved in more performances soon.
On May 3rd Midnight Rain played for a Yom Ha'atzmaut event which went very succesfully. Photos on the website.
There has been a long period of un-activity since nearly all of the band were heavily involved in the school musical (Les Miserables) and the band hasn't had time to reherse.
After one or two rehersals the band got back up stage for Rock Club 06 with Take Me Away and Hotel California. Photos on site and Mp3 on MySpace
