Mike Kowalski

Mike Kowalski is the current drummer for the band The Beach Boys. He first joined the band in 1968, and has been their sole drummer since 1987.
Mike Kowalski was born in Hollywood, CA on July 28,1944. At the age of three, he began singing and playing piano. When he was five Mike career began, his first actual professional gig was playing the piano, accompanied by Mel Torme on drums for a Television Pilot. At age ten a gift from his Godfather and "Dragnet" T.V. star Jack Webb changed his life forever. It was a set of Slingerland Radio-King drums. At fifteen Mike had become a professional drummer with various local rock, rhythm and blues bands. He performed on stage as well as on appearing on screen due to his family was affiliated with the Motion Picture and Television industries. At nineteen he was the drummer for a popular L.A. band; Pat and Lolly Vegas, whom later acquired fame as the group "Redbone". During the same timeframe, Mike performed and recorded with "Sonny & Cher", "Little Anthony & the Imperials", and "Etta James".
