Mills University Studies High School

Mills University Studies High School, named after the late Congressman Wilbur Daigh Mills, serves as a major center for education in central Arkansas. Mills was opened in 1970. Little Rock Mills serves students in grades 9 through 12 and is one of six high schools within the Pulaski County Special School District in Pulaski County, Arkansas.

Mills is accredited through the North Central Association. It was recently ranked as the 20th "best" high school in the nation according to the value of the ratio that exists between number of graduating seniors compared with the number of AP Exams administered to those seniors. The Mills program emphasizes involvement in the Advanced Placement Program which allows students to earn college credit through integration in the high school curriculum.
A full list of AP classes is as follows: AP Art History, AP World History, AP European History, AP English Language, AP English Literature, AP Studio Art, AP Music Theory, AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC, AP Statistics, AP Environmental Science, AP Chemistry, AP Biology, and AP Physics.
From 2003-2006, Mills University Studies was named to be among the top 100 best high schools in the nation according to the Newsweek magazine's Top 1200 US Schools. Public schools are ranked according to a ratio called the Challenge Index.

Mills Scholar Students have obtained admissions to numerous ultra selective colleges and universities including: Yale College, Amherst College, Swarthmore College, University of Notre Dame, Williams College, Bowdoin College, Georgetown College, Brown University, Duke University, Macalester College, Wesleyan University, Rhodes College, Hendrix College, Stanford University, among many others.

As of 2005, extracurricular clubs include the Student Council, Gay Straight Alliance, debate squad, the Young Democrats, Art Club, FBLA, FCCLA, Army JROTC, Model United Nations, Odyssey of the Mind, Drama Club and Quiz Bowl.

The Mills Comets enjoy a strong tradition in interscholastic athletic activities, including three baseball state championshps and a boy's basketball title. Other sports including tennis, soccer, football, bowling, golf and volleyball.
The Comets compete in the Class 5A-Southeast conference with Pulaski Robinson, West Helena Central, McClellan, Monticello Billies, Crossett Eagles, White Hall Bulldogs, and Pulaski Academy Bruins.

In 2006 for soccer, the Comets compete in the AAAA-East conference, along with Valley View Blazers, Greene County Tech Hornets, Nettleton Raiders, Crowley's Ridge Academy Falcons, Batesville Pioneers, Batesville Southside Southerners, North Pulaski Falcons, and Paragould Rams.
In the same year, the Comets wrapped up an 11 win, 1 draw, 4 loss season (excluding the 1-1-1 at the El Dorado Tournament) with a 4-0 loss in the first round of the State Tournament to the Pulaski Academy Bruins, who would go on to lose in the finals to Harrison on Harrison's way to its 5th straight championship.
In the 2007 season, the Comets play in a six-team conference along with Monticello Billies, Little Rock Christian, Pulaski Academy Bruins, McClellan, and J.A. Fair
The Comets started the 2007 campaign with a 1-1 draw at Parkview. The Comets trailed most of the game, only to equalise from a Penalty Kick towards the end of the game.

The Mills High School Student Council is very active in leading the student body. The organization is responsible for balancing the concerns of the school administration and the student body. Student Coucnil Presidents at Mills, just as valedictorians, salutatorians, and other top students at Mills, typically obtain high academic achievements. Recent student Council presidents include:
