Milnathort

Milnathort is a village in the Perth & Kinross region of Scotland.
It is situated at the foot of the Ochil Hills, near the northern shore of the infamous Loch Leven where Mary Queen of Scots was imprisoned in 1567 until she escaped a year later. It was a market town associated with nearby Burleigh Castle, stronghold of the Balfours of Burleigh.

It is home to a fine 9 hole golf course, a range of pubs and cafés, plus a well renowned ice cream shop. It also contains a war memorial statue in the centre of the green area of the village. This pretty area is situated next to the Primary School and has a recreation park within it.
The town is a stone's throw away from one of Europe's biggest music festivals, T in the Park, which is held annually at the Balado airfield.

On 13th December 2006 heavy rainfall caused the Queich Burn, which runs through the centre of Milnathort, to burst its banks. This led to flooding, and some residents were temporarily evacuated from their homes. [[1]]
