Milton Murray Holland (1 August 1844 – 15 May 1916) was a Union Army soldier during the American Civil War and a recipient of America's highest military decoration—the Medal of Honor—for his actions at the Battle of Chaffin's Farm.
Holland joined the Army from Athens, Ohio, and was serving as a Sergeant Major in the 5th U.S. Colored Infantry Regiment when his unit participated in the Battle of Chaffin's Farm on 29 September 1864 in Virginia. Three days before the end of the war, on 6 April 1865, he was issued the Medal of Honor for his actions at Chaffin's Farm.
Sergeant Major Holland's official Medal of Honor citation reads:
Took command of Company C, after all the officers had been killed or wounded, and gallantly led it.
Holland's wife was Virginia W. Dickey. Milton Holland died at the age of 71 and was buried in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington County, Virginia.
