Miniature art
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Miniature art is a genre that focuses on art in miniature. Painting, engraving, sculpture, etc. Miniature art societies, such as the World Federation of Miniaturists (WFM), provide different size definitions of miniature painting, many of which specify that it should not be larger than 100 square centimeters in metric societies. The charm of miniature art is in part that it can be held in the palm of the hand.
Miniature art has been made for over 1000 years and is prized by collectors. The White House and the Smithsonian American Art Museum both have collections of miniature art, and there is an American Museum of the Miniature Arts in Texas.
