[edit] Hi Alex!
First of all, here is the standard welcome:
Welcome!
Hello, Mineismine, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:
- The five pillars of Wikipedia
- How to edit a page
- Help pages
- Tutorial
- How to write a great article
- Manual of Style
I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}}
on your talk page and ask your question there. Again, welcome! Cheers to 2007! User:Sp3000 23:48, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
Also, don't worry about MOTD yet, and to create pages simply click the "edit" tab on a non-existent page or try this:
The third link above, How to Edit A Page has a useful list of...well...you'll find out.
Most commonly you will be using:
What to Type | What it comes out as |
---|---|
''Italics'' | Italics |
'''Bold''' | Bold |
[[Link]] | Link |
[[Piped Link|Link]] (this directs to the left half, but appears as the right half) | Link |
[http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:Mineismine&action=submit] (This is an exterior link) | [1] |
[http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:Mineismine&action=submit <span> Edit Mineismine's talk page! </span>] (This links to what's left of <span> but appears as whats to the right of it. | Edit Mineismine's talk page! |
<!--Comment--> can only be seen under edit. |
Headings are most commonly created using:
- ==Heading 1==
- ===Heading 2===
Placing a : at the start of a line indents it
- like this
and placing an * bullets it
- like this
- while #
- creates a
- numbered
- list as
- shown
Red links lead to non-existent pages while Blue links lead to existent pages.
To try the above, have a go in the Sandbox but don't delete the heading.
Once again, if you having any problems, visit my talk page! Cheers to 2007! User:Sp3000 23:48, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] By the way
Try adding {{subst:popups}} to User:Mineismine/monobook.js. It will help you a lot.
Here are some other links you might be interested in/should read:
Also, I forgot to mention that ~~~ displays you signature only (you can edit it in "My Preferences"), ~~~~ displays both your signature AND time (in UTC) and ~~~~~ displays time only.
Cheers to 2007! User:Sp3000 23:56, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] MOTD
Don't worry about MOTD yet, if you don't have enough experience, your mottos won't probably be good anyway since they have to be Wiki-related. Cheers to 2007! User:Sp3000 21:32, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] MOTD
Thanks for the suggestion Alex but it's along the same lines as "Wikipedia ≠ the world...yet." Anyway, that's where you post messages but I advise you to put a heading to your messages. :) --The preceding comment was signed by User:Sp3000 (talk•contribs) 10:05, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
