[edit] Welcome from Redwolf24
Welcome!
Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions, or the ones you have yet to make! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. We as a community are glad to have you and thank you for creating a user account! Here are a few good links for newcomers:
- The Five Pillars of Wikipedia
- How to edit a page
- Editing, policy, conduct, and structure tutorial
- Picture tutorial
- How to write a great article
- Naming conventions
- Manual of Style
- Merging, redirecting, and renaming pages
- If you're ready for the complete list of Wikipedia documentation, there's also Wikipedia:Topical index.
- User:Redwolf24/Bootcamp My own personal summarized Bootcamp.
Yes some of the links appear a bit boring at first, but they are VERY helpful if you ever take the time to read them.
Remember to place any articles you create into a category so we don't get orphans.
I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! By the way, please be sure to sign your name on Talk and vote pages using four tildes (~~~~) to produce your name and the current date, or three tildes (~~~) for just your name. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome.

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Harriet-Bandshell.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Harriet-Bandshell.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).
The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}
.
Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Thank you. Andrew c 00:02, 21 February 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Your reversion of vandalism on the Tiger Woods article
Good work reverting the vandalism to the article about Tiger Woods. Fighting vandals on Wikipedia is an unfortunately constant battle, so it's always good to find people willing to jump into the fight defending the Wiki! If I may give a piece of advice, because vandals are often simply seeking attention, it's generally accepted Wikipedia policy to simply revert their vandalism and comment with "reverting vandalism" or even just "rvv" instead of explaining what you're reverting, so as to give vandals as little attention as possible. That way they're not encouraged to continue vandalizing. (It's also a lot less typing for us vandal-fighters!) Thanks again for helping keep the Wiki squeaky-clean, JDoorjam Talk 16:17, 8 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Image:505logo.PNG tagging
I've changed the tagging on Image:505logo.PNG to {{logo}} because while you made it, it is a direct copy of the 505 logo and is the same shape, size, and arrangement as http://www.int505.org/505_logo.gif. As such, it is protecteder under copyright and the {{logo}} tag applies. Do you sail 505s? --Durin 15:56, 31 March 2006 (UTC)
- Even when a copyright or trademark notice is not associated with a work, it must be presumed that it exists. A couple of years back, another dinghy class (Star, Finn, something...don't remember) took a shirt making company to court and won because that company was using their class logo. So, in general, Wikipedia always presumes something is copyrighted unless it is specifically stated that it isn't, or it is licensed in a matter compatible with use on Wikipedia. In the case of the 505 logo, fair use policy allows us to use it on the article about 505s. Similarly, you can use logos from any class association for articles about that boat class and/or association. --Durin 17:56, 31 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Soling.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Soling.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.
