Okay I'm not really political, but if there was just that whole big debate about Muslims feeling that artistic depictions of Mohammed are Iconography and anathema, why is this in the wikipedia article on him? (added by an IP back in April 2006)
[edit] Painting Dates are clearer than stated.
The Encyclopedia Britannica has Sultan Muhammad working between 1539–43 on the Khamseh of Nezami of which this is a page. It was illustrated for Shah Tahmasp I (his patron) and given the dates the 1550 date mentioned doesn't make sense. There is no contradiction in dates of this plate.
