Miryalguda (population: approx. 250,000) is a town in Nalgonda district, in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India. It is a key commercial center in the region of Telangana.

Geographically located at 16.52N and 79.34 E

Miryalaguda is famous for the paddy grown and it is listed among the top 5 paddy markets in Andhra Pradesh, the Left canal from Nagarjuna sagar makes Miryalaguda green and commercially rich. The town is also has large number of rice mills.

Union Cabinet Minister S.Jaipal Reddy is from Miryalguda constituency. In and around Miryalguda, there are industries like Raasi Cement, (India cements), Nizam Sugar, and Dr. Reddy's Laboratories, SagarPriya Cements, Deccan Cements. The town is connected through 3 main roads, one towards Ramachandrapuram, the other towards Housing Board and the other one towards Hanumanpet, the Ramachandrapuram Road leads the road towards Nalgonda (the district headquarters), the one towards Housing Board leads towards Guntur and Vijaywada, and the other one leading towards Hanumanpet leads towards Railway Station and Nagarjuna Sagar.

Within its boundaries are three post-graduate colleges offering MCA, MSC, BCA and BEd and an engineering college also. It houses private computer institutes like NIIT, APTECH and many more Institutes for Comuputers. Town has adequate number of schools and colleges including professional, Degree and Intermediate colleges.


Miryalaguda is 140km from Hyderabad, 126km from Guntur and 150km from Vijayawada. It is connected by both rail and road; Express trains passing through Miryalaguda stop at the local railway station, Buses ply to almost all destinations of the state such as Guntur, Vijayawada, Kakinada, Kurnool, Badhrachalam, Puttaparthi, and Manthralayam.

On the Road towards Vijayawada is the Avanthipuram Village where the Venkateshwara Swamy temple and Saraswathy Devi temples are located. Many people from other places come here for "Akshara Abhyasam".

There are several villages surrounding Miryalaguda, including Dilawarpur, Alagadapa, Annaram, Avantipuram, Rayanipalem, Nandipahad, Ravinder Nagar, Ootlapally, Vemulapally, Mulakapattanam, Ravulapenta, Tadakamalla and Venkatadripalem,Veerlapalem, Yadgarpelly, Gudur, Kondrapole, Lakshmipuram, Keshavapuram, Kothagudem and Kishtapuram.

Miryalaguda Town was initially developed after construction of Nagarjuna Sagar Reservior. Growth of Miryalaguda is fueled by the good irrigation facility for cultivation also helped the growth of industries.

It has more than large number of Parboiled Modern Rice mills and other factories like solvent oil mills and PVC pipes etc many Stone and Polishing Mills.

The town has many temples like Venkateshwara Temple at Avantipuram, Lord Shiva temple, Hanuman Temple, Sri Venkateshwara temple and spirutal centres like Bramha Kumaris, Kodanda Raamalayam at Reddy Colony, SaiBaba temple at HanumanPet, Gitamandir at SeethaRamPuram, Kanyaka Parameshwari Temple in Bangarugadda famous Wadapally Temple. This wadapally temple is called as Agastheswara Temple where, water comes into Shiva Lingam automatically constantly.

As of 2001 India censusGRIndia, Miryalguda had a population of 90,247. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Miryalguda has an average literacy rate of 69%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 76%, and female literacy is 61%. In Miryalguda, 13% of the population is under 6 years of age.
