Miss Teen USA 2006

Miss Teen USA 2006 pageant, the 24th Miss Teen USA competition, was televised live from Palm Springs, California on 15 August 2006. At the conclusion of the final competition, Miss Montana Teen USA Katie Blair was crowned by outgoing queen Allie LaForce of Ohio.
On 10 August, the 51 contestants competed in a preliminary presentation show where they were judged in swimsuits and evening gowns. Scores from this judging will determine the top 15 on the live telecast on 15 August.
Miss Teen USA 2006 will room with Miss Universe 2006 Zuleyka Rivera and Miss USA 2006 Tara Conner in New York City.
All the delegates were first to required to win their state pageant, which in some states also meant holding a local title.

- Montana places for the first time at Miss Teen USA, and wins the crown. Other states to win the first year they placed (after the first five years of the competition) are Idaho (1989), New Hampshire (1991), and Iowa (1992).
- Nebraska places for only the second time. Nebraska was the second-last state to make their first placement, which came in 2004 when Meagan Winings made the top 10. The Vanbros organisation took over the pageant in 2002 and has reinvorated it, with two placements in five years.
- Arizona and Rhode Island place for the 3rd time, Florida, South Carolina and Michigan for the 5th
- Melissa Lingafelt (1st runner-up) equals North Carolina's previous highest placement (Peggy Blackwell was 1RU in 1987)
- Katie Cooper continues North Dakotas strong form at Miss Teen USA, with ND making the cut for the third time since 2003. She is the highest ever placed delegate from North Dakota, an honour previously held by Dayna Decker and Heidi Langseth who both came 4RU.
- Georgia has now placed every year bar one since 2000 (not making the cut in 2003).
- Michigan places twice in succession for the first time
- Morgan Woolard continues Oklahoma's resurgence, with the states third placement since 2003 (the state had a dry spell from 1997-2003).
- Maryland and Georgia are the only states to have placed every year 2004-2006.
- Florida, North Carolina and Arizona make the cut for the first time in the 2000s. North Carolina previously placed in 1997 when Ali Burr made the top 6, Nicole Broderick made the top 10 for Florida in 1998 and Danielle Demski of Arizona made top 6 in 1999.
- The state grouping of RI/IL/NJ/MD is the most successful at this years pageant, with three top ten placements (RI, MD, NJ). Second is Vanbros (KS/MO/NE/OK) with one top ten placement (KS) and two top fifteen placements (NE & NJ).
- Two sets of roommates made the top 15. They are: Oklahoma & Nebraska and New Jersey & North Carolina.
- Colorado wins their first Miss Congeniality award
- North Carolina wins their second Miss Photogenic award, becoming one of only six states to win this award more than once.
- Tennessee fails to place twice in succession for the first time since the 1980s and early 1990s (the state did not place from 1985-1993 but has failed to place only four times since then, including 2006).
- Texas fails to place twice in succession for the first time since 1993-1995.
