Former Route 56 was a short highway in eastern Missouri. Its eastern terminus was at Route 9/Route 2 (now U.S. Route 61 and U.S. Route 40) in St. Peters. Its western terminus was at the intersection of former Missouri 9 and Route 47 in Troy.
Missouri 56 is now part of Route 79 between St. Peters and Winfield, and Missouri 47 between Winfield and Troy.
