Talk:Mississippi River Bridge
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
[edit] Name
Could someone please explain the logic behind the name of this article? I've lived in the La Crosse area all my life, and I've never heard the bridge referred to as "Prescott Toll Bridge"; it's always been referred to as the Cass Street Bridge as far as I can tell. I suspect this might be referring to a bridge somewhere near Prescott, Wisconsin (just a guess from the name), but that's much farther upriver, by the Twin Cities. BryanG 07:02, 25 March 2006 (UTC)
- This article is most likely misnamed. John Weeks III calls this bridge The Mississippi River Bridge (US-14/US-61 Mississippi River Crossing Downtown La Crosse). Though I'm not from La Crosse, I would tend to agree. I'm not sure how to fix this, but I think this article should be moved/renamed to Mississippi River Bridge and that article should be renamed I-90 Bridge, I-90 Mississippi River Bridge or whatever the local name of the bridge is. It looks to me that the Prescott Toll Bridge doesn't cross the Mississippi, but St. Croix River from Wisconsin to Minnesota. Pretty complicated series of moves, anybody want to head that up? --Dual Freq 06:59, 26 March 2006 (UTC)
