Modasa is a city and a municipality in Sabarkantha district in the Indian state of Gujarat. It is an economic centre for agricultural exports, at both the provincial and national levels. As a centre for the surrounding villages, Modasa acts as a transportation hub for both residents and tourists, and also has two large hospitals: Muslim Ganchi Hospital and Sarvajanik Hospital.
Modasa is also emerging as an education centre with new pharmacy and engineering colleges besides the traditional educational faculties like Arts, Commerce, Science, Education and Law. These colleges are run by The M. L. Gandhi Higher Education Society. Dr. Dhirubhai Thakar and Dr. D. A. Ghanch are the architects of the of campus. Modasa is also hub of doctors for the people of north Gujarat and some migrants of south Rajasthan. Modasa is now an educational centre of Sabarkantha District. It has colleges like Law college, Arts college, Commerce college, Pharmacy college, College for MBA and BBA are also there. The most popular place in the town is Government Engineering College, Modasa which has excellent study courses like Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Electrical Engineering.

Modasa has an average literacy rate of 74%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 81%, and female literacy is 67%. In Modasa, 13% of the population is under 6 years of age.
