Dpr: I don't think your content is relevant to the title of this article.
"Modern Europe, in the study of the history of Europe, is a broad term referring to several concepts, all regarding Europe in the modern period. These concepts differ according to the various definitions of the term "modern" in the study of history as well as to the geographical definition of Europe."
-- This could all be said in one sentence, but it's not necessary. The title of Modern Europe is self-explanatory.

The term can refer solely to Western Europe, or Central and Western Europe, both terms which themselves bear disputes, or to any one of various combinations of states and regions. Thus the geographic extent of Europe as used in the term is ambiguous. Historians, including the British Norman Davies, have attempted to present the importance of "peripheral" regions on equal status with the rest of Europe."
-- If you could explain the Norman Davies bit a little more, then I would be further inclined to include it in the article. However, as it stands, this information isn't relevant to the topic of "Modern Europe." This information is better suited for a discussion of Europe in general and not of Europe in the modern era.

- Barfooz, your comments are relevant and well-stated...bottom line, I was just trying to highlight the ambiguity of the terms Modern and Europe, which deserve discussion rather than uncritical taken-for-granted use. In particular the latter point on Geographical Extent...the evolution of the boundaries of the concept "Europe" differs in different historical periods. Thanks for the conversation so far.
