From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Mohamed Cherfi is an Algerian man formerly living in Canada. He was ordered deported to the United States in 2004 after his request for refugee status was refused. In March 2004, he was arrested while in sanctuary at a church in Quebec City, and deported.
After his deportation, he was imprisoned in the United States while waiting to be deported anew, this time to Algeria. He feared for his life because he had repeatedly denounced the Algerian government during the five years he was resident in Canada.
On 2 June 2005, he was accepted as a refugee by the United States.
