Mohammed Shahid

Mohammed Shahid (born 14 April 1960) was one of India's outstanding hockey players . A dashing forward with an uncanny sense of scoring goals he played for India in three Olympics, two World Cup tournaments , two Asian Games and two Champions Trophy tournaments. He was a member of the Indian team that won Gold Medal at the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow.
Born at Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh, he first played for India in the Junior World Cup in France in 1979.
He was awarded Arjuna Award in 1980-81 and Padma Shri in 1986.
