Mohammed bin Ali Al Abbar is a leading citizen of the United Arab Emirates and hails from the Emirate of Dubai. One of the most trusted aides of Dubai's Ruler, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Alabbar is a member of the Dubai Executive Council, the supreme government body with the mandate to synergise all growth initiatives in Dubai. As the Director General of the Dubai Department of Economic Development, Alabbar is closely associated with the fast track economic development in the Emirate.
As Chairman of Emaar Properties, Alabbar has been instrumental in transforming Dubai's real estate environment into the most vibrant lifestyle property market in the Middle East. Emaar, a Public Joint Stock Company established in 1997, is listed on the Dubai Financial Market and is majority-owned by the Government of Dubai. Emaar Properties is the largest construction and development company in the UAE and has built over a thousand residential units and office complexes during the real estate boom in Dubai. Emaar is also responsible for the development of Burj Dubai, which is expected to be the tallest tower in the world on completion.
Under his guidance, the Department of Economic Development has been instrumental in initiating public policies to strengthen the trade and business segments and establish a culture of transparency and openness in Dubai.
