Montserrat College of Art is a four-year residential college specializing in the visual arts, located in Beverly, Massachusetts, 23 miles north of Boston.
It offers Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees in Fine Arts, Graphic Design, Illustration, Painting and Drawing, Photography, Printmaking, and Sculpture; and a program in Art Education. It also offers non-credit classes for adults, teens, and children and for-credit summer programs for high school students.
The school was founded in the 1960s as Montserrat School of Visual Arts. It was accredited as a college in the 1980s at which time it changed to its current name. In 1990 the school moved to it's current location off of Cabot Street in the Hardie Building, a renovated 19th century school building that serves as the center of the campus. Currently, the campus includes residence halls, the Cabot Studio Building, and the Cabot Street Illustration Studios. The school values its small size, which allows more academic attention to the progress of each individual. Montserrat typically has an active student body of around 350 students.
Prominent fashion designer Sigrid Olsen is among the college's alumni.
Among the school's past professors is author and illustrator Jarrett J. Krosoczka.
