Morbid Florist is the full length debut album by grindcore band, Anal Cunt. It was the first album recorded with John Kozik on guitar, who had replaced previous guitarist Fred Ordonez.
The album had originally been recorded with the intention of it being released on Earache Records, as at this time in the band's history, they were looking for a label that would keep their records in stock and pay for their tours. Seeing as Earache Records had shown a previous interest in the band, they seemed like the obvious choice.
Instead, the album was released on Relapse Records (as RR 6070-2). It was released on CD and cassette and a shorter version was released on 7" vinyl (as RR 023). The 7" had less tracks than the CD, containing only 9 songs (Some Songs, Unbelievable, Song #6, Radio Hit, Some More Songs, I Don’t Wanna Dance, Even More Songs, Morrissey, Guy Lombardo). 500 copies of the 7" were pressed, with 400 on green vinyl and 100 on white vinyl. [1]
Many of the songs were familiar at the time to fans who had followed Anal Cunt through their early years as songs such as Guy Lombardo and Song #6 had been played at their concerts for several years. The song Unbelievable is a cover of the EMF song.
In 1998, Relapse Records re-released Morbid Florist (as RR 6994-2) and this version contained two bonus tracks, including a cover of the song Hello, I Love You by the Doors, which was included as a hidden track. It was reissued on March 24.
Morbid Florist is currently the only Anal Cunt album available for purchase on the iTunes Music Store.
