Morning Girls with Kris and Korina is a defunct top-rating morning talkshow on ABS-CBN hosted by broadcaster Korina Sanchez and Kris Aquino. What is supposed to be a two-week temporary talkshow formed a duo that revolutionized Philippine TV that lasted for 16 months. It officially ended on May 28, 2004 when the network decided to tap Korina Sanchez for Rated K, a news-magazine program on the station's Sunday Slot. The move of putting Korina for Rated K was made because Sharon Cuneta's self titled Musical Talkshow temporarily went off-air, due to the Sharon's pregnancy. Morning Girls was replaced by the defunct morning talk show Good Morning Kris, where Kris became the solo host for 6 months.
Morning Girls with Kris and Korina became a phenomenal hit. It also maintained its lead against its rival morning talkshow Sis when the show was still on-air.
At present, Korina Sanchez is the Chief Correspondent for Philippine and Global Operations of ABS-CBN News and Current Affairs, and main anchor of ABS-CBN's late-night news program Bandila. She also hosts Rated K and ANC's Korina Today. Kris Aquino, on the other hand, hosts Kapamilya, Deal or No Deal, Pilipinas, Game KNB?, and The Buzz.

[edit] Original Format
Morning Girls started as a replacement for ABS-CBN's Talk TV on year 2002. It was originally hosted by the triumverate of Kris Aquino, Pops Fernandez, and Zsa Zsa Padila. However, due to the controversies surrounding Aquino's blooming relationship with Joey Marquez, Kris decided to quit hosting the show. She was replaced by Carmina Villaroel until January 3, 2003, when Villaroel formally ended her contract with ABS-CBN and moved to rival network GMA-7. On the same period, Pops Fernandez also formally ended her contract with the station. 1
[edit] Temporary Stint
Due to the fact that two of the original hosts moved to the rival station, ABS-CBN decided to tap Kris Aquino and Korina Sanchez temporarily for two weeks until the show is replaced. However, the two-weeks grace period led to the success of probably the most successful morning talkshow of ABS-CBN, when the chemistry of Kris and Korina was appreciated well by the public, as evidenced by the show's ratings. The success of the show made Korina Sanchez dabble into entertainment for the first time.
[edit] Guests and Features
Morning Girls with Kris and Korina is the only talkshow that managed to guest promiment people from entertainment, business, and even politics. On its first year anniversary since Kris and Korina hosted the show, it even featured former President Corazon Aquino and Vice-President Noli De Castro. It also served as an avenue for certain politicians to discuss political issues during the Pre-2004 National Elections.
It is also the only morning talkshow that managed to feature and regularly invite major celebrities from GMA-7, including Richard Gomez, Ogie Alcasid, and Regine Velasquez.

[edit] Trivia
- Morning Girls became controversial when Kris referred to a congressman as being disrespectful of the military in connection with the Oakwood siege while Korina referred to Representative Clavel Martinez as bastos (rude). They were tasked to attend a Congressional hearing to explain their statements, but they refused to attend on the legislator's first and second invitation. On the third invitation, Sanchez still refused but Aquino decided to show-up. As a result, Kris was cleared while Rep. Martinez asked that Korina show up or face repercussion. The controversy led to the exchange of statements between Representative Martinez and her fellow legislators and Kapisanan ng mga Brodkasters sa Pilipinas. The issue even caused the Martinez' Political clan of Cebu to ask Mar Roxas to make amendments with Representative Martinez so the latter will endorse Roxas' candidacy at Cebu.
- When Kris Aquino's love quarrel with Joey Marquez became known to public, she decided to temporarily leave her hosting stint at Morning Girls. The replay of her exclusive tell-all interview with Korina Sanchez on TV Patrol was aired on September 25, 2003. When Kris became prepared to go back, it was Morning Girls where she decided to return first.
- It was also at Morning Girls where the relationship of Korina Sanchez and Philippine Senator Mar Roxas became known to public. Roxas and Sanchez admitted their romantic relationship on the show. Some critics say that their romantic relationship became a factor that helped Mar Roxas land as the Top Senator for the 2004 National Elections. Article here.
