User:Moritz is a small-time contributor to Wikipedia born in 1983 in Berlin, Germany. I'm currently studying computer science and minoring in linguistics at the University of Dortmund.
I'm extremely, pathologically, fond of music; when I'm not being social or attending lectures or watching TV, it's very likely that I'm listening to something or other. I'm trying hard to find a way of combining listening to music with those activities, it's not easy for the most part. My iPod mini is part of my clothing, for all practical purposes.
All that said I make no claims that I'm listening to good music. In fact, I'm willing to concede that the music is terrible. But I happen to like it, and as long as that remains the case I'll continue listening to it. Musical evangelism doesn't usually work on me, and I've reduced my own activities in this field since I've found that others tend to be similarily immune to it. (Their loss!)
With that warning in mind here's some of what I like to listen to. Obviously the interprets are representative of their styles, there are typically a slew of others that produce similar music I listen to (something without even being aware of them by name). It's all electronic music. Anyway, here's the list:
- Orbital: the British duo that introduced me to electronic music with their song The Box. If you're looking for who to blame for my bad taste, that's them. And to the unknown radio DJ who played The Box late at night many years ago: thanks mate.
- Armin van Buuren: representative of a whole slew of trance_music DJs and interprets. At the time of writing this makes up the largest part of my listening time, often via internet radio (ETN.FM).
- Shpongle: ah, psy-trance. Crazy stuff. I also really like Jaia, who made the first Goa/psy-trance album I ever heard.
- Underworld, well they're Underworld. Almost popular music at some point, I guess. I totally get my kicks on channel six.
Not an exhaustive list, quite obviously. I don't think writing one would be possible. Suffice to say that depending on my mood I like listening to nearly everything in this large and diverse genre—from mainstream to IDM.
