Moses Olaiya Adejumo, better known by his stage name "Baba Sala", is the most famous comedian and one of the most highly regarded dramatists in Nigeria.
A Yoruba from Ijesha, Baba Sala (alongside other dramatists like Hubert Ogunde, Kola Ogunmola, Oyin Adejobi and Duro Ladipo) popularized theater and television acting in Nigeria. He is a prolific filmmaker. Significantly, Baba Sala started his career in show business as a highlife musician, fronting a group known as the Rhythm Dandies; he tutored and guided the world famous juju music maestro, King Sunny Ade. He is also known as a brilliant storyteller. When it comes to comedy and Yoruba drama, Baba Sala is a household name in Nigeria.
