Mosonmagyaróvár is a town in northwestern Hungary, county Győr-Moson-Sopron. The town lies close to the Austrian border and has a population of 30,200 inhabitants (as of 2004).
Mosonmagyaróvár is a combination of the towns Magyaróvár (German: Ungarisch-Altenburg) and Moson (Wieselburg). The town of Moson was the original capital of Moson County in the Kingdom of Hungary, but the county seat was moved to Magyaróvár during the Middle Ages. The two towns were combined in 1939.
