[edit] Plot summary
The episode continues from the previous episode, with the Bellforest airport director protesting Jurgens' blockade of the port on the mere suspicion that the ship in the 23rd dock is a renegade Gekkostate vessel. Furious, Jurgens gives the director a 10-minute ultimatum. As a result, the ship in question is prohibited from leaving the port.
As Eureka shows Renton how to read trapar waves, she comments that he is as funny as her children. Holland plans a "drop-in" maneuver, and places Renton in the Nirvash's copilot seat. Before leaving, however, Renton tells Axel that he wants to train hard and become as good a mechanic as him. Misinterpreting what he meant by "training", Axel unwittingly lets Renton leave aboard the Nirvash. Eureka is delighted with Nirvash's greatly improved performance, although Renton finds that the first-hand experience of her lifting prowess takes some getting used to.
Eureka takes the Nirvash to the airport, where the Izumo tries to shoot her down, hitting the control tower in the process. Meanwhile, Woz hacks into the airport's control computers, enabling the Gekkostate ship—the Gekko—to freely use the elevator to the runway. As the elevator doors open, the Gekko unleashes a smoke screen, and Eureka quickly dispatches the last of Jurgens' KLFs.
Talho, the Gekko pilot, guides the ship into a dive off the huge Bellforest tower, pulling up at the last moment to catch Holland on his board. With the rebels lost and three KLF squadrons destroyed, Jurgens can only sit and await disciplinary action.
The Gekko crew study the "kid who made Eureka smile", with only fleeting interest. Holland gives Renton a small tent, because there are no crew quarters available for him, and Eureka asks him to be near the Nirvash. The episode concludes with Renton realizing what Eureka meant by her "children".
[edit] Trivia
- Although Jurgens gives a 10-minute ultimatum, his stopwatch reads "15:00" in the original broadcast.
