Mount Gambier Golf Club is situated less that 10 kilometres from the City of Mount Gambier, in South Australia.
The City of Mount Gambier itself is situated midway between Melbourne and Adelaide on National Highway One.

In addition to weekly local competitions, the club hosts two major competitions:
- 4 day June Tournament on Queens Birthday long weekend,
- 8 day Spring Tournament (including South East Open Championship) culminating on Monday of SA Labor Day weekend.

Rupert Stewart, a golf professional from Adelaide, was the original designer of the course, but today's layout must largely be credited to Brian and Murray Crafter, well known Adelaide golf professionals, who redesigned the course in 1972.[1]
