Mozy Online Backup
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Mozy Online Backup is an automatic online backup service for personal computers. It automatically backs up local files to a remote location over the internet. Changes in selected files or directories are monitored by a client application, which sends altered files or altered parts of files to the remote location, in real time or at scheduled intervals. Communication between the client and the remote server is encrypted, and files are sent in encrypted form.
Mozy is developed by Berkeley Data Systems, Inc. It was released as beta in 2005, and went out of beta in late 2006.
As of March 2007 the Mozy service supports Windows XP and Windows Vista, while a client for Mac OS X is in private beta.
A basic account with 2 GB of storage (Mozy Free) is offered for free. Mozy Unlimited offers unlimited storage for a fee.
Apart from the consumer version, there is also a professional version for enterprise backups, MozyPro. MozyPro also supports Windows 2000 Server and Windows Server 2003.
