[edit] 1927 on Television in New Zealand
A 15 year old Frederick Vincent Moss had a photograph taken for his passport in Englandin 1927. Later that year he arrived in New Zealand as a 'passage supported' emigration plan passenger on a ship, with his mother, Gertrude Josephine Moss, and two brothers, Bernard Harry Moss and Brian Moss. Even later his sister, Hermia Moss, travelled to New Zealand. The photo therefore shows a 1927 picture on TV. It must be a retro science fiction prediction....
[edit] Mosasaurs in New Zealand ++ Taniwhasaurus oweni, Mosasaurus mokoroa.
"A recently-discovered fossil from the Waipara area of North Canterbury represents the skull and associated remains of a mosasaur – a large extinct marine lizard - which lived perhaps 70 million years ago late in the Cretaceous. The fossil is one of the most complete mosasaur skulls collected from New Zealand and, for our Cretaceous reptiles, is a “find of the decade.” The skull indicates an animal perhaps 5 m long; it is reminiscent of the previously-named Waipara mosasaur Prognathodon waiparaensis, but may be a new species. When the mosasaur was alive, New Zealand was an extensive low-lying land. A small range of dinosaurs lived on land, while a greater diversity of plesiosaurs and mosasaurs swam in surrounding shallow seas." http://www.otago.ac.nz/geology/features/paleontology/mosasaur.html Taniwhasaurus oweni, Mosasaurus mokoroa. gotta smile at those names...
[edit] Name Origins
Mozasaur is a made up user name. You can find out all about mozasaurs'interests at various websites, notably astronomy, mapping, photography, music and family. Mozasaur is a derivative of several real world objects, a mosasaur, a dinosaur, and a variation of nicknames, moz, moza, mozzie. It is often the 'handle' i use in games, i especially like historic themed battles, such as AOE, a channel for the residual (or collected) aggression at the end of the day. Such Play-Learning about production, distribution and use of resource to survive is an imperative for the future of the planet.
[edit] Geographic Location
I spend roughly half of my life in Wellington New Zealand and the other other in Brisbane Australia. Most of my offspring live in Australia, and most of the rest of my family live in Auckland and Hamilton.
[edit] Ancestry
I am descended from James Baldwin and have ancestors spread from the UK through Australia, (Melbourne and Brisbane, some Tasmania) and Wellington, New Plymouth, Mahoenui, Te Kuiti, in NZ.
[edit] Interests
Sharing knowledge and images to all. I am especially interested in the sky and space, atmospheric images and astronomical images, focussed on aurora australis. I am also interested in Art, Electricity (esp green energy). Geology and Vulcanology are passions. Rocks and Crystals are cool. Sound and music is a passion, esp audio engineering, recording, live performance. I run an aurora alert telephone tree for nz. Radio is an historic passion, latent until needed again. Reading, both books and web is a core passion. Web sites and presence building is a passion...
[edit] Telescopes
I am currently using a Celestron C8 kindly on loan from WAS (The Wellington Astronomical Society)
I own a 150mm reflector that I use at schools, on th ewharf, in parks, and at Star Parties. It's branded Eden Optics and sourced from China via Camera-Camera, Auckland NZ. Excellent value for money, its motor driven and yields good images.
[edit] Professional
Digital Cartography, database mining, predictive analytics, demographics, geodemographics, the rendering of humanity using colour to describe their attributes (thematic map). Cross-matching data to assist business and health research.
[edit] Plans
John Lennon once said that plans were the things you were doing while life went on without you, anyway, or something like that.
I intend to be a VJ (live video production) with my friends bands, and I also intend to grow lots of plants and make bio-fuel, speak at many more seminars, take zillions more photos, help out removing unwnated plants and animals from Moreton Island, make songs using my historic kiwi band samples, play with my grandkids, create on-line services esp census related data and mapping products. I intend to transition to less energy consumption, making most or all of my own, using wind, water and bio-fuel. I also intend to setup southern aurora webcams for the world to share. I intend to visit Arizona, Nevada, and image the sun and stars moving across the landscape, Tasmania and Alaska and take photos of Aurora Borealis, and Bluff, Invercargill, and Rakiura, Rakiura National Park taking photos of KIWI and aurora australis. I also intend to visit my friends in the UK, and spend time travelling around both New Zealand and Australia in a campervan with camera....
