Mubashar Hassan

Dr. Mubashar Hassan is a life-long socialist and is one of the founders of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP). The PPP was formed at Dr Mubashar Hassan's house in Lahore in 1967. Dr Hassan became Secretary-General of the PPP, and he was elected MNA from Lahore in 1970. From 1971-1974, Dr Hassan served as Finance Minister of Pakistan and he oversaw the PPP Government's nationalisation policy. Following differences between PM Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and the socialist wing of the PPP, Dr Hassan left the federal cabinet.
Presently, Dr Hassan is the Punjab President of the PPP(Shaheed Bhutto Group), which is lead by Ghinwa Bhutto, widow of Murtaza Bhutto, elder son of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto.
