[edit] Reviews
November 2006 saw the release of Mugstar’s debut album ‘Mugstar’ to ecstatic reviews.
“Live, Mugstar are renowned for their gigantic sonic soundscapes that pummel audiences into submission. It is often the case that such aural excesses are rarely transferred to the studio. In Mugstar's case they have, however, managed to capture the live energy and power perfectly, while still maintaining a tight hold of the melodic song structures.” Penny Black Music
“A simply awesome racket, and the icing on the already beautiful cake is that underneath and in and around all those pounding instrumental speedfreak riffs are some truly original melodies.” Terrascope
“Also coming on in a headlong rush is the self-titled debut album by Liverpool band Mugstar, whose eight tracks of driving motorik Litmus-style instrumentals distil/streamline all the best late Lemmy-period Hawkwind into a tougher and more speedfreaked out version of top flight La Dusseldorf.” Julian Cope
“Who says we have no space programme? With their debut CD, Mugstar have blasted off into regions of cosmic heaviosity.” Plan B
“Their spaceship has finally landed” Mixing It
“My debut LP of the year” Pink Fish Media
