Murder board

A murder board is a committee of questioners set up to help someone prepare for a difficult oral examination. The term, which originated in the U.S. military, is also used in academic and government appointment contexts. Most recently, the term was in the news in connection with the 2005 preparation of Harriet Miers for U.S. Supreme Court confirmation hearings.
