Myrmecophagidae is a family of anteaters. Myrmeco- lit. ants; phagos lit. eat. No teeth are present in this species. They have long tongues, which are used to feed on ants and termites. They live in the Neotropical region. There are 3 genera and 4 species in this family. They have large claws on their front paws, used to tear open ant and termite nests.
