Nambiar (Non-Indian)

Nambiar (unrelated to Indian Nambiar) is a title for people who are also found in Suffolk where they were anciently seated as Lords of the Manor. Some of the first settlers of this name or some of its variants were: Nanby, Nanbie, Namby, Nambie and others. The name represented in many forms were recorded from the mid 17th centaury in the great migration from Europe. Migrants settled in the eastern seaboard from Newfoundland, to Maine, to Virginia, to the Carolinas, and to the islands.
