Nanaly Fletch (ナナリー・フレッチ Nanarii Furetchi?) is a character in Tales of Destiny 2, the game's archer. She's a strong, tough girl who takes care of orphaned children in her hometown Hope Town, several years after her brother's death. She possesses a lot of skills necessary as a hunter, as well as a feminine side, although some could mistake her as a tomboy due to her sometimes rough attitude and her sense of fashion. She's also very sensitive regarding on women's feelings but can sometimes misunderstand the situation. For example, when Loni mentions about Kyle's sheep growing breasts, she mistakens him as if she thinks he only thinks of women about their breasts.

[edit] Childhood
Nanaly was born in Hope Town, a small town the Calvalese region, 9 years after Stahn Aileron and the other heroes defeated Kronos. She is also a descendant from the Ae'therians, the reason why she is at Calvalese is that after the defeat of Ae'therians, they are banished to Calvalese. She was soon blessed with a younger brother, Lou. During her childhood, it's presumed that she learnt about Stahn's heroic feats. It was unknown on what happened to Nanaly's parents, they're most likely presumed to be dead somewhere after Lou's birth.
Unfortunately, when Nanaly was 9 years old, Lou was struck with an incurable sickness. During the time of his sickness, there has been rumors about a Holy Woman in the town Aigrette named Elraine who went on spreading miracles. Nanaly could have brought Lou to Elraine and have her cure him, but she never wanted to do it, as it would mean for them to stay in Aigrette forever and she didn't like the idea of praying to God (Fortuna), even though life is much better in Aigrette. As a result, Lou died on the sickness.
From that point on, Nanaly grew to be a strong girl, taking care of many orphaned children as she didn't want them to suffer her brother's fate. She also learnt the skills as a hunter and protected the children with it.
[edit] Fateful Encounter
10 years after Lou's death, Nanaly grows into an attractive, tough girl. It is at that time when she met two mysterious strangers in the town who come out of nowhere. These strangers are the people from the past: Loni Dunamis and Judas. Nanaly shelters them in Hope Town, taking care of their daily meals and sometimes gets involved with bickerings with Loni, especially when he gets into trouble like harassing the town girls and she has to get him out of trouble. Loni often mentions that he and Judas have two friends whom they are separated with, Kyle Dunamis and Reala.
Eventually, Nanaly leaves Hope Town and visits Aigrette. She visits the temple where recently-born babies are given ID Number and separated from their parents to obtain 'true happiness'. All these has been going on ever since the church of Fortuna has been gaining greater popularity than the church of Atamoni. These are old news to Nanaly and she doesn't like it one bit. It is also at this place that she meets both Kyle and Reala. Telling them that she knows where Loni and Judas are, Nanaly offered to take them to Hope Town.
When they reached Hope Town, Nanaly calmed down several young kids who continued to pester Loni and Judas. She tells Kyle and the others to just go on ahead to her house as she visited Lou's grave. Surprisingly, Kyle follows her and this makes her tell him about her past and how Lou died and how she refused to move to Aigrette. In her house, she prepared a meal for the group. When Judas mentions on 'getting back to their timeline', Nanaly mentions about a giant lens being carried to the Holy City of Kalviola. She accompanies the group to there.
Within the Capital, they finds out that the lens is not there and meets Fortuna, who reveals Reala's identity. Even so, Reala makes a wish to return to their timeline and Fortuna grants it. Unknown to the group, Nanaly is also dragged through time, arriving at Heidelberg together with the group.
[edit] Journey on the Past
Although Kyle and the others are worried on how Nanaly will not be able to return to her timeline, she insists to accompany them until they find the lens. To her surprise, even the world 10 years before her timeline doesn't feel so different than before.
While resting, Loni accidentally mentioned on how Reala dragged Kyle into this, triggering all the chaos. Nanaly quickly scolds him and chases after Reala who runs away after hearing it. She catches up with her in the park and Nanaly consoles her to stay strong and tells her to get back to the castle. Reala seems to agree, but in the next day, Nanaly finds her missing. After telling the boys, they ask the King of Phandaria, Garr Kelvin (Woodrow Kelvin in Japan), on Reala's whereabouts, but he knows nothing. The team concludes that she must've headed to Straylize Temple to confront Elraine. Garr gives them a decree that lets them enter the Earth Army Base Point, in order to attain a flying ship that can get them to Straylize Temple quickly.
They make it in time and Reala is saved. However, Elraine escapes through the Draconis. They gives chase and crashed to the dragon-like ship. Unfortunately, they don't find Elraine nor the lens. Although they managed to escape from Draconis, the ship is about to be sucked with a black void. Reala uses her power to transport them to a parallel world.
In the parallel world, they find that the people there are acting rather weird and have Lens on their foreheads. As they travelled through towns, Nanaly makes use of her hunting skills to get through the uncivilized woods, such as identifying poisonous grasses and how to catch a Garm for their blood.
Eventually they learn that in the parallel world, history is truly messed up. Elraine is hailed as a savior, and there's no trace of the past heroes like Stahn or Garr. They decided to confront Elraine in her throne, the Dycroft. However, in there, they are utterly shocked when Elraine reveals Judas' identity, that he is the traitor of the heroes, Leon Magnus. Elraine uses their shock to her advantage and sends them to their own dream worlds according to their mind.
In her dream world, Nanaly is sent to Hope Town. To her surprise, Lou is still alive and never dead at all. It's exactly what she wished to happen and thus she enjoyed her new life there. However, for some reason, she and her brother get a bit of goosebumps whenever they approached the graveyard. She's more than delighted when she meets Kyle, Loni and Reala. But, when she shows her fear about graveyard, Loni becomes rather pissed off and dragged Nanaly exactly to the graveyard. To her shock, she finds Lou's grave there, but she resists, wanting to believe that her brother is not dead yet. Loni kept persuading her, as he knows how much a hothead she is. Eventually, she is struck with a headache and she learns that everything she enjoyed is fake. She tearfully bid farewell to Lou and he vanished. Eventually, she can't take it anymore and cries on Loni's shoulder as he comforted her.
Nanaly then rejoins the group as they get to Judas' dream world, where they successfully reclaimed their friend, ignoring the fact that he was Leon in the past. Unfortunately, at that point on, there's nothing they can do to stop Elraine, who has attained too much power. To leverage that situation, Reala sends the group to the past timeline, during the period of Ae'ther Wars.
During their trip to the distant past, the group is involved within the final stages of the Ae'ther Wars, working alongside Harold Berselius and the Swordian Team, Karell Berselius, Dymlos Tinbar, Atwight Eks, Laville Clemente, Pierre de Chaltier, Igtenos Minarde and Raiker (Baiker in Japan). At the end of the conflict, Harold joins the group and they decide to pursue Elraine's assassin, Barbatos Goetia, whom they encountered during their journey in that timeline. Reala transports them to Aethersphere, at the final stages of Stahn's journey. They eventually defeated Barbatos for good there and after Judas stabs his Swordian to the Eye of Atamoni, they are transported back to the present timeline.
[edit] Final Battle
While the group thought the battle is over, it's apparently not. In the future, Elraine is attempting to destroy the present timeline, which will result the destruction of the world. The group traveled back to Nanaly's timeline and confronted Elraine in the Holy City of Kalviora. After hearing her ambition to revive the Completed Fortuna/God and thus destroying the present mankind, the party decided to put an end to her ambitions, by killing both her and Fortuna, even though it confused Kyle as it would mean killing Reala in process. When Elraine attempts to leave, Nanaly and Loni attempts to stop her, but are blasted with magic and fainted until they are transported back to the present timeline.
The group proceeded to ask the surviving heroes, Garr, Philia and Rutee, for advice. After they asked Rutee, Nanaly accompanied Loni to look around the Dunamis Orphanage as Harold repairs and upgrades for the airship for the upcoming battle in Elraine's prophesized 'God's Egg'. As predicted, the God's Egg descended in the next day. The group immediately headed there and eventually reached Elraine and defeated her for good. Fortuna appears next and the party refused her existence. After a harsh battle, they succeeded, but Kyle had no choice but to fulfill his duty, which costed Reala's life.
As Fortuna is defeated, history begins to repair itself, as if Fortuna, Elraine never existed at all. This results the group's journey to be annulled as if they never meet at all, and their memories sealed. As Nanaly is about to disappear, she tells Kyle to be strong, so he doesn't become the laughing stock of the Dunamis Orphanage children, and be the pillar of everyone's support, just like a certain someone. It is possible that she is referring to Loni that way. As she knows that she already exists during Kyle's timeline, she promises that she's not going to say 'Good Bye', but rather, 'Let's meet again.'. Nanaly then vanishes, and Loni seemed sad about it.

After Kyle and Loni departs for a new adventure in the restored timeline, it is possible for them to travel to Hope Town, finding the 9 years old Nanaly with her sick brother Lou. After begging for their help, Kyle and Loni agreed to help her and ventured through Aigrette and Fitzgald in order to get the cure for Lou, helped by Philia. They eventually succeed and bring the cure to Nanaly. With the cure, Lou gradually becomes better and eventually cured completely. Thus a new life with her brother begins for Nanaly. However, these events are optional subquest. Should the player not bother with the whole subquest, Lou will still die from the sickness.

- Nanaly's hobbies include cooking and sewing clothes.
- She and Loni often bicker with each other. Whenever Loni does something that insults Nanaly, she usually counters by grabbing and performing a submission hold on him. Despite this, she is shown to care a lot for Loni's well being, and he says that travelling without her is weird, which causes her to blush.
- Nanaly also has girlish dreams, such as having a knight to rescue her whenever she's in peril. She expresses this when Barbatos captures Atwight and wonders if she's the one captured. In a humorous scene, Loni volunteers to be her savior because he feels pity for the criminal who captures her, due to (what he says is) her rather 'violent' attitude. Of course, this insults Nanaly, and she performs another submission hold on Loni.
- Nanaly is one of the opponents of the cameo battle in Tales of the Abyss, alongside Reid Hershel of Tales of Eternia, Mint Adnade of Tales of Phantasia and Philia Felice (Philis in Abyss and Japan) of Tales of Destiny. This marks her first non-Japanese appearance.
- Nanaly appears in Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology as one of the NPCs of the game.
