National Electric Drag Racing Association
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The National Electric Drag Racing Assossiation is a North American-based racing league for competing battery electric vehicles (BEVs) against each other and against current high performance or classic muscle cars. Their goal is to show that electric cars aren't just golf carts, but can instead be high performance machines capable of out-accelerating most current production cars today. Examples of this are:
- The Maniac Mazda [1], a Mazda RX-7 which can achieve 1/4 mile times of under 12 seconds.
- Another example is White Zombie [2], a converted Datsun 1200 sedan which can win against a Dodge Viper and has recently broke 100 mph and into the 12 second range for the 1/4 mile.

[edit] NEDRA Classes and Voltage Divisions
NEDRA vehicles are categorized by Class and Voltage.
Classes are determined by the extent of the vehicle's modification from daily drivers such as simple Street Conversions (SC) to extreme racers such as electric funny cars in the Extreme Street (XS) class.
Voltage Divisions range 24 and bellow volts to 241 and above volts and are represented by letters from A through J:
- A3 349V and above
- A2 301V - 348V
- A 241V - 300V
- B 193V - 240V
- C 169V - 192V
- D 145V - 168V
- E 121V - 144V
- F 97V - 120V
- G 73V - 96V
- H 49V - 72V
- I 25V- 48V
- J 24V and below
