Here are some notes on CBS and tape-delay of the 1980 and 1981 NBA Finals.
1980 Lakers-Sixers (CBS)
- Game 1 Sun 5/4 in LA live (in afternoon)
- Game 2 Wed 5/7 in LA live at 11:30 eastern
- Game 3 Sat 5/10 in Phi live (in afternoon)
- Game 4 Sat 5/11 in Phi live (in afternoon)
- Game 5 Wed 5/14 in LA live at 11:30 eastern
- Game 6 Fri 5/16 in Phi tape-delay at 11:30 eastern
Note: CBS would have shown game 7 live on Sun afternoon 5/18 had the series gone the distance.
Summary for 1980 Finals: one tape-delay game, but two of the live games were at 11:30 eastern
1981 Celtics-Rockets (CBS)

Don Criqui and Steve "Snapper" Jones were the #2 team in 1975-1976 and 1976-1977.
In 1989, Brent Musburger and Bill Raftery were the #2 crew on playoff games. They did the Western Conference Finals games that were broadcast on CBS.
In 1990, Verne Lundquist was #2 play-by-play man (presumably alongside Bill Raftery) on the NBA Playoffs and in fact, did Game 7 of the East Finals (Chicago v. Detroit).

- 1973/74 Pat Summerall pxp, Elgin Baylor, Hot Rod Hundley (Baylor was
fired during the playoffs and replaced by Rick Barry)
- 1974/75 Brent Musburger and Oscar Robertson
- 1975/76 Brent Musburger and Mendy Rudolph
- 1976/77 through 1979/80 Brent Musburger worked with a variety of
analysts, including Billy Cunningham, Mendy Rudolph, Rod Hundley and Rick Barry
- 1980/81-Gary Bender, Rick Barry, Bill Russell-This was the crew they
used in response to NBC's college trio of Dick Enberg, Billy Packer and Al McGuire. If did not work out and Bender moved on to NCAA b-ball the next year when CBS got the rights.
- 1981/82 and 1982/83-Dick Stockton, Bill Russell
- 1983/84 through 1986/87 Dick Stockton, Tom Heinsohn-Lots of complaints
about Heinsohn being Pro Celtics.
- 1987/88-Stockton, Billy Cunningham- Cunningham left to go to a management
position with the Miami Heat.
- 1988/89 and 1989/90- Stockton, Hubie Brown
